Totally Tubular: Lexus LFA Torque Tube

Just in case you didn't get your fill of the Lexus LFA last week, here's one more peek at one of its many impressive parts.

This was on display at a supplier booth. It's the LFA's torque tube that connects the engine to the trasnsaxle out back. Looks more than sturdy enough to help harness the power of the car's sick-sounding 4.8-liter V10.

Let me guess, its made from some sort of uber-high tech Japanese carbon fiber super-alloy.

I just dont see the 'value' in a 500k super car, but thats not the point is it.

^^I think Redliner is right. At this price, you aren't getting value, but exclusivity. The price is insane, and ironically means they cannot hope to make money on it. With only 500 units, they are setting the price near where exclusivity allows, but are still losing money hand over fist. Buyers can think of themselves as partners in the Lexus supercar development program, and perhaps they will have a collectible on their hands if a tradition builds at Lexus.

I suspect prices will drop substantially after the first year.
