Nissan Unveils 40th Anniversary 370Z

Do you remember the day the original Nissan 240Z arrived? Yes? Well then, you sir are officially old.
It's been nearly forty years since that fateful day in 1969, and Nissan wasn't about to let that date slip without tarting up a 370Z for buyers who are into that sort of thing.

In this case, the 40th anniversary 370Z starts out as a Touring coupe with a manual transmission. From there it gets special "40th Quartz" paint, a couple badges, red brake calipers and a unique smoke finish for the 19-inch Rays wheels. The interior is draped in red leather set off by various pieces of trim with red stitching. There's a commemorative plaque as well, so you know you're in the club. Sales begin next spring.

The 40th Anniversary edition gets a rear window wiper, but the LT Z doesn't?

@altimadude
You'll notice that's a right-hand drive Japan-spec model. The U.S. version doesn't get the rear wiper.

The original was so cool looking... I grew up in the '70s and they were everywhere. The 280zx in its final form was a Japanese Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. A heavy, slow overly decorated joke of its 240Z self. BUT it still looked better than the 300 and later cars. They are just so boooooring. I like the red interior however. I am so sick of Grey and black.

Man, I guess it all comes down to what Z was brand new when you were a kid....but the '89-'96 300ZX is the most beautiful of all Z's ever. In my ever so humble opinion.

I can't but help noticing that the main photo is very similar to a number of the 'Generations' poster\pictures that Porsche created a handful of years ago. Regardless, it's pretty awesome seeing all those old cars next to each other.

Srsly, what crawled up your bum, Ed?! 40 years is something to celebrate.

Except there was a seven year gap between the 1996 300ZX and the 2003 350Z, so this could be a 33rd anniversary Z.

cwc1--The 300ZX was still being sold in Japan after 96. I don't know for how long though.

_altimadude00. . . Sales continued in Japan until 2000.

This is yet another beautiful creation from Nissan. I like the similarities of the Porsche Generations posters. The Z was, is, and probably always will be matched agains the Stuttgart stallions, so it almost like a slap in the face. Looking foward to getting my hands on one of these machines in the spring.

It's still a great car and better looking in person. I'm a "Z Guy"

Had a 1980 280ZX in high school..rusty and brown but I loved it.
Dreamed of owning a Z32 300Z
Bought a 2004 350Z...slapped a twin turbo on it. Sold it, bought a 335 Coupe.
Bought a sweet 1976 280Z which is my love.
Test drove the Nismo 370Z and loved that...just not sure I need 2 -2 seaters.

I love the look of the new Z. I was doing random searches and I found this. Thought I'd share it with everyone. Good stuff
