This might seem like sacrilege, but yes, there will be a convertible version of the upcoming McLaren MP4-12C.
The company is serious about becoming a real car company and in order to do that you have to actually sell a bunch of cars. Doing so is easier if you have more than one model, or in this case, more than one version of your one model.
Designed to keep all the basic design elements of the coupe, including its 200-plus-mph top speed, the MP4-12C convertible will use a retractable hardtop and retain the coupe's scissor-style doors. The 600-horsepower, twin-turbo V8 will remain as well although the convertible is expected to arrive with a price premium over the $250,000 coupe.

Is Ferrari doing the convertible conversion for McLaren? Those F-430 bits look pretty nice

and wow that driver side rear view mirror on that front 3/4 shot has a super long support arm... is that for seeing at the back of the car like those big rigs and school buses use?

458 looks better (convertible version will make you want to trade in a kidney), is cheaper, doesn't have turbos, and probably more fun to drive (9000 rpm baby). Nice try Mclaren but the new 458 is still my choice even if this has like 30~50 more horses.

I feel kind of weird saying this, but I think it looks kind of generic. It's like the Ascari: lots of scoops and vents, but it's almost like I've seen them all before.

This car looks incredibly good. The coupe is nice, but this drop-top is just SWEET!
