The Bob Lutz/Cadillac CTS-V smackdown/stunt planned for this Thursday at the Monticello Motor Club in upstate New York, will follow a simple five-lap format.
Each competitor, chosen by General Motors to take on Bob Lutz and the Cadillac CTS-V, will receive five consecutive laps of the course. So subtracting an out-lap and a cool-down lap, each competitor, of which there will be about 10 total, will receive three flying laps. The quickest single lap at the end of the day will decide the winner. There will apparently be no second-chance round.
The schedule of events looks like this (all times are Eastern):
8:30 am-11:30 am -- Track opens for practice
11:30 am-11:45 am -- Introductions, driver meeting, etc.
11:45 am-1:00 pm -- lunch
1:00 pm-2:30 pm -- timed laps
May the best Cadillac CTS-V, er, car win.

Hey 1487 be sure to get your pic taken with Bob, since you are at so many of these events.

Maybe 1487 is Lutz.
My epiphany concerning the days events after 2:30:
Bob wins by a hair.
AND, no-one could care less because insignificantly different track times won't make BMW/Jaguar/Mercedes/Lexus/Porsche sport sedan buyers trade in their cars if the V.

*edit: FOR the V.

This event won't have any impact on sales. It could be fun to watch, though.

One thing that Cadillac won't win on is looks - that front end looks awful in the above picture. GET RID OF THE CHROME CADILLAC! Why make such a powerful, appealing car but make it look so awful?

I wish I was there. Beats being at work.

yeah Cadillac would be better served by copying the generic forms of Japanese luxury cars or copying Germans like Lexus did when it debuted. If cadillac doesn't look like a cadillac its pointless. There are plenty of dull, forgettable luxury designs on the market if thats what you prefer. Based on the sales of the CTS it appears many disagree with your assessment. A 556hp needs to stand out. The M3 and M5 are barely distinguishable from their much cheaper brethren.

I can assure you that Cadillacs still look like Cadillacs without the bling-y grilles. In fact, I'm talking about the CTS-V grille specifically. The car looks great with the other grilles, including the regular one : http://www.thearticlewriter.com/images/2008-Cadillac-CTS.jpg
I think the treatment on the M- cars looks great, but I won't get into that discussion again because its been done a million times.

Is Lutz/Heinricy first or last? I'm betting last.
