After weeks of breathless promotion, a bit of gnashing of teeth and the random cat-fight among various blogs, the Cadillac CTS-V Challenge has now begun and we'll be here at Monticello Motor Club all day.
Practice is underway and so far nobody has gone off-course...yet. There will be plenty of time for that though. Lutz, being the head cheese of the company that conceived of this compelling publicity stunt, grabbed a few laps earlier this morning. Hey, when you are renting the track, you get to do those sort of things. Now, the civilians and blogger/media types are on the course. Oh, and it's a wet course, after a healthy rain this morning.
This could get interesting.
And, yes, that is a Mitsubishi Evo you see in the above picture. Why would an Evo run against the big, luxury/sport sedans? Well, because Mitsubishi was the only car maker to loan one of its cars to a media outlet for the event.

A wet track, eh? Well that's a whole different ball game.

May the best tires win.

I hope the evo wins. I don't really like the evo more than the other cars. I just root for the underdog. Maybe with a wet track the all wheel drive will be an advantage.

Love that Thunder Gray Chromaflair color on the CTS-V. The first one I ever saw at NY show was that color.

oh crap, it's a wet track. the evo is gonna kill everyone, unless someone join in the last minute with a sti.

Props to Mitsubishi for manning up, even if they will prob not be competitive. Maybe they could have snuck in one of the high powered British editions.

I'm glad there is an evo there. Realistically, its the most attainable vehicle out of the bunch.

Yeah props for mitsu, +100 compliance.

if the Evo wins, then Lutz would have an excuse saying it's AWD, and/or it's not luxury enough to be in the same class and blah blah blah

Dont think the evo is going to win. It did OK in Lightning Lap, but nothing spectacular.

"Love that Thunder Gray Chromaflair color on the CTS-V. The first one I ever saw at NY show was that color. "
1487, I have to agree with you on that color as it actually compliments the CTS-V's edgy creased lines and its bling. That color with a rich camel colored interior would be striking in a good way.
Although I usually don't like blue cars, that light blue color (I'm unsure of the exact name for the color) on the BMW M3 sedan in the picture looks awesome or is that Silverstone?. I looked on the BMW website and didn't see that light blue color available on the current M3. I know it exists as there is a $72K M3 sedan at my local BMW/VW/Honda dealer that I've drooled over for the past few months and it's a very light blue. Any of you Bimmer guys know what that color actually is called?

@hondacura4:
Yes it is Silverstone II. I almost ordered mine in this color, but changed my order, just in time, to Interlagos Blue.
The SSII is great, but deep down I like dark colors.

That evo looks good, especially without the rear wing - not M3 good but better than the boy racer look the spoiler normally gives it.
