This week we learned that Gran Turismo 5 will launch in March 2010... in Japan. Still no date for the U.S., yet. Maybe the delay is because GT5's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, had to take time out to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, which is on the car list for the upcoming (apparently...) PS3 game.
Also, we now have proof that the SLS AMG really is in the game, thanks to some gameplay footage from the 2009 Tokyo Game Show. And Sony's Polyphony Digital has produced a commercial for Gran Turismo 5 starring the reborn Benz Gullwing. Both videos are after the jump.

This game will never come out. I've lost all faith in this franchise and will take Race Pro and Forza 3 instead.

Gran Turismo got me excited about cars, and made me a superfan of the series. However, I was not convinced the GT5 changes would be worth the wait. I played a demo at the Paris airport, and couldn't feel significant improvements over GT4 (however, the demo did lack sound). Forza 2 had great driving dynamics, if not the soul of GT4, but the momentum seems to have switched. So, I purchased an XBox 360, and I will be playing Forza 3.
