Well, Leno's Green Car Challenge course isn't as fast as Top Gear's, but at least there are a few technical turns. We'd like some commentary on how the Ford Focus BEV drives, though.

+1 to moparbad. Has anyone else noticed that whenever any celebrity dies, Edmunds will cover it and "justify" it by making some reference to a car they owned or something like that?
Anyway, the Green Car Challenge was just pathetic. With a car like that it could be really good, but the track is horrible and there isn't nearly the emphasis on cars and driving and the lap itself that you see in Star in a Reasonably Priced Car. On top of that, it just reeks of pandering to the greenies. I tell you, I'd go out of my way to hit the Al Gore cutout and gladly take the 1 second penalty as a badge of honor.

I'll admit that my interest was piqued by the Green Car Challenge (not enough to watch the show, mind you). But after seeing the segment, I'm a bit disappointed.
I know it's a big plug (no pun intended) for Ford's BEV program. But the silly cut outs and streamer and ping pong ball launchers make it more like a game show, than a semi-serious way to showcase the performance of an electric drivetrain.
That and we've got to wait for 2 years for a Focus BEV to make it into production? I highly doubt the show will be on that long.

Did anyone notice Ms. Barrymore cut the chicane on both laps? That may keep her time below other people who actually do the laps properly. A studio lot just isn't big enough for a stunt like this.
