Video: 3 Commercials for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Were you a resident of Seoul, these are the commercials for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata you might see. There's plenty of English (and in one of them, Italian) used in the scripts so you won't get confused. If you haven't gotten your fill of the redesigned midsize sedan from yesterday's photos, these should put you on the road to Sonata overload.

Two more videos after the jump.

Quaint marketing philosophies that make no sense. If "Form and Function Are One", how then does "Form Follow Function" or "Function Follow Form"?

I think they're trying to say the you don't have to pick form or function. You get both.

Doesn't really answer the question on all mid-size sedan buyers' minds these days: how well will it stand up in a 40MPH crash into a '59 Bel Air. But that floor-mounted accelerator pedal does look nice to operate.

Very pretentious commercials.

It's also funny how they seem to want to sound European.

It looks like a sleeker MY2002-2006 Toyota Camry. Heh.

Looks good to me. If I was Toyota I would be pooping my pants.

It's a GREAT looking car and appears to be turned out pretty nice with features. The previous Sonata made a nice dent in the Camry/Accord numbers. This generation should take a bigger bite. Look out Honda and Toyota!

I think Hyundai is trying to slowly move the Sonata away from the Accord/Camry segment and concentrate on upscale midsize family cars like the Passat and CC. If you look at Hyundai's current (Genesis sedan) and future offerings (Equus/Sonata) it looks as if Hyundai may be trying to move upmarket.

Ill assume Kia will be more of a value oriented mainstream brand and will directly compete with Honda, Toyota, Chevy and Ford.

Nice, definitely a good competition to the Japanese. It has been Japanese dominate the car markets.(FACT) But funny it seems like Hyundai is not a direct competitor to Toyota, but its to Chrysler and GM. Reasons Toyota has been using Asia and European market to come up with new products. Americans are always last to have it. Its not that hard for Toyota to come up with something better than Hyundai. But again the competition are towards GM and Chrysler. These buyer will not choose Toyota in the 1st place and not GM and Chrysler now, so Hyundai will grab them all.

@hondacura4

I really don't know why people are making the claim that Hyundai is going "upmarket."

The Genesis was originally planned as a separate brand, but plans for that was shelved (for the time being) once all the nos. were crunched.

It's not like Kia isn't bringing a no. of higher-end products as well.

The 2011 Optima (based on early spy shots) is likely to be better looking than the Sonata, as well as the CC.

Also in the product line for Kia is the VG sedan which will compete against the Maxima and a smaller, but higher-end RWD sports sedan.

Exactly, They want escape from Asia big 3. They want be a World Big 3.

if anyone says, "it similar with honda accord, toyota camry", then it is a "insult" to hyundai.

In my opinion, The new sonata is a more luxurious than Lexus ES.
But, I think Hyundai must keep their position, 'middle brand'.

Because, 'Luxury = overprice', it is very risky.

Hyundai need create new brand. Hyundai itself should not be a luxury brand.
