We follow up our 2,000-mile road trip in the 2010 Audi R8 V10 with a trip to our test track -- you know, so we can find out if it's worth the extra $30,000 over an R8 V8.
Our Detroit-based senior editor, Dan Pund, reports that the R8 5.2 FSI's true accomplishment lies its ability to stimulate the senses with its free-revving V10, open-gate shifter and supernatural agility -- all the while keeping you comfortable for hours on end.

I like it. The fact its "easy" to drive and live with is not a bad thing.

Fantastic car.
But what really bugs me is.. why is the Ford GT500 so slow (relatively speaking)? It's been dynoed by Edmunds at 514 rwhp so it makes more powah than the R8. I don't expect it to match the R8's acceleration, seeing that it is heavier and no AWD, but still, it is soooo much slower. Shouldn't be at least kinda close?

i don't think the GT500 is heavier, it may be lighter in fact. its a matter of traction. there comes a point where you just cannot go any faster without more grip. i haven't looked at the current GT500's test numbers, but i do remember the old one's trap speed was quite impressive...
