We've never been able to put our finger on it, but the four-seat Mini Cooper Convertible doesn't sit quite right on the eyes, particularly with its top up. Seeing these first photos of the Mini Roadster Concept, which will be unveiled later today in Frankfurt, we wonder if maybe the rear seats were the problem all along. With just two seats, the Roadster concept makes for a more natural-looking Mini convertible.
It also looks sportier than the four-seat convertible, so to emphasize that angle, Mini went ahead and specified the 175-hp, turbocharged version of its 1.6-liter engine from the Cooper S. Check our full story for more details, and check back on Straightline later today for photos and details from the show floor.

That front quartering view (last pic) is a very good angle for the car with the top up. Although, it does smack of Audi TT-esque design language and it looks like they smacked it with a Bentley Azure stick in the bum. Overall, though, an attractive car, methinks.
Like any Mini, I bet you it's just more than a little fun to drive. I just hope they keep the price in check!

Please somebody else tell me that they won't be caught dead in one of these things. Although, i have to say it will be funny to see anyone taller then 6 feet or heavier then 180 pounds try to climb into one of these things.

never a big fan of Mini, but I will have to say that this car is very well executed, and looks like a very good direct competitor to the TT.

I like this a lot. This makes a bit more sense than the coupe (although I liked that too).

Anybody remember the little Geo convertable based on the Sprint? I still see a few around Chicago.

I think the rims make more of a statement about the car than anything.
