Nothing new under the hood, but Volvo designers have put a new face on the 2011 Volvo C30, and it's not at all unlike the nose on the 2010 S60 sedan. You can also get a body kit -- shown in these photos, skid plates (?!) and all -- on this perennially underrated hatchback.
The paint, Orange Flame Metallic, is also new, and the 2010 C30 in Volvo's booth at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show should be painted accordingly.
The 2011 Volvo C30 goes on sale in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2010, and unless it gets some kind of radical surgery (say a Mazdaspeed 3 drivetrain transplant) between now and then, we doubt many of you will care that much. It's a damn shame. There will never be a better looking hatchback.
More photos after the jump.

To be honest, I prefer the current model.

I must say, that's not a bad look, and it has grown on me.

Volvo has good design language. It's subtle, but very recognizable on the road.

I agree with 3ricchu, the current C30's front fascia looks better in my opinion. But I suppose they are leaning towards a new corporate style and the models must follow.

What I don't like is the trim around the fog lights. I noticed it on the S60, too. It's not that it looks bad, but it looks carried over from the new Fusion. Ford and GM both do that--carry a design element to all their different brands. GM did it with a chrome bar acros the trunk lid of everything (Chevy, Saturn, Buick) among other things. I understand wanting to utilize popular design trends but imo it waters down the design and makes it less 'special'. If I buy a Volvo I don't want it looking like a Ford. Let each brand have their own look and design elements.

Looks great. Just for the sake of style and being different, I might get one over a Mini...if I was in the market for a small hatchback.

This car's styling will appeal to a broader range of consumers than the current c30. plus, it does a great job representing volvos new sexy design language

The front appears to have warped in the sun.

Actually, it will be the 2011 Volvo C30 in the US, not 2010. It will still arrive sometime next year, I'm sure. The '10 C30 is now on the US Volvo website and it has the same front fascia as the '09 model.

I like it. Estreka is right. Volvo has found a very good balance of distinctive and tasteful in their design language.
