Although we've seen it in spy video, Ford officially unveiled the 2011 F-Series Super Duty at the Texas State Fair over the weekend. The basic foundation of Ford's heavy-duty pickups is unchanged, Contributor Mark Williams reports, but the importance of the new in-house-built 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 can't be overstated. As we've reported previously, the Power Stroke will carry ratings of 400 hp and 725 lb-ft of torque, making it the only legitimate engine choice for those planning to tow with the Super Duty.
The base engine in the Super Duty line is a 6.2-liter gasoline V8. Ford hasn't disclosed ratings, yet, but we hear it will be more potent than the current 6.8-liter V10 (362 hp, 457 lb-ft). Compared to the advanced Power Stroke, with its compacted graphite iron block and dual-compressor wheel turbo, the gas SOHC V8 is fairly conventional with an iron block and 2 valves per cylinder.
Both V8s will be paired up with a new six-speed automatic transmission with a tow/haul mode. Ford won't offer a manual transmission option this time around.

The 6.7 liter diesel sure sounds impressive (or doesn't sound as much, since it's quieter).
The front end of the current SD Ford trucks seems so disconnected. The headlights don't look like they belong with that huge grille. The styling tweaks seem to make this one a little better, but it still lacks a cohesive look in the front.

Don't like the grille. Looks like it was designed on a keyboard O[=]O
But that new diesel sounds awesome. It looks like a big winner

Do the origins of this trucks chassis date back to the early 2000's or is this a whole new chassis as the cab looks identical to the older trucks?

Nice post. In their life span ford has built many pickup truck. In terms of performance its good. Ford are very reasonable.Ford are increasing their size of the truck. Fords headlights are also very diffrent. In terms of feature 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine. Two options in petrol one is a 6.8 liter V10 and other is a 6.2 liter V8.The F-series now provide new interior, comfortable seating with heaters. hondacura4,
It's the same basic chassis, but there have been significant changes since the chassis introduction in 1999, especially regarding the setup of the leaf springs. Since Ford engineered such a great chassis for the Superduty in the first place, it hasn't needed much change there. The chassis is still the best in the segments. The engines and transmissions are what needed the change.

Ugh, can we stop with the "biggest grille" wars now? I'm sure they're finding a way to work the front bumper into it, so they can make the front one gigantic chrome grille.

xprojected,
There's a reason for the big grill. It's called a huge radiator. To tow as much as as these can tow, you need some massive cooling capabilities.

Take the huge grille bulge off and I see a LOT of Silverado in the design.
I wonder what a nonchromed version will look like.

"why do they offer the gas version? "
Price. Modern diesel are very expensive.
"There's a reason for the big grill. It's called a huge radiator. To tow as much as as these can tow, you need some massive cooling capabilities."
Then why is so much blocked by big chrome bars and Ford logo? It's a styling feature, that's all.
The new diesel is very impressive and has a lot of advanced technology. I'm just hoping it won't suffer any long term failings like it's predessor.

I agree with comments about how bad the current SD headlights look, but while they cleaned them up a little, the new grille looks cartoonish; Ford was toning down the "Gillette" look on its cars (Taurus, Fusion), but now thinks its trucks need the treatment. The prior generation SD was an excellent looking truck by the end and everything Ford has done has made it worse, styling-wise, since, as was also noted, the older truck's shortcomings were mechanical, not stylistic.
