Both Microsoft and Sony want a piece of the fine looking Ferrari 458 Italia in their long-awaited upcoming games, Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 respectively. So they've both made tribute videos to this newest Ferrari, and Ferrari posted them both today. So whose video is better?
We might vote for Forza 3's -- just because Microsoft's Turn 10 is willing to talk about an actual launch date (next month). Although, if Amazon is to be believed, GT5 will be out on Dec. 29.
At least in Forza's case, though, it appears the 458 Italia won't be on the car list at launch. You'll have to wait until December and download it as a holiday gift to yourself.

Tribute videos aside, this is a very serious consideration for me. My wife has green-lighted my purchased of either an XBox360 or Playstation3, and it all hinges on which game I percieve to be the best: Forza 3 or GT5.
I have a PS2 and GT4, which is incredible. So many cars, and it really is a festival of automotive desire. Can Forza 3 tempt me away?

Personally, I think the GT5 video is hands down more impressive than the Forza. The Forza video always looks like a game where the GT5 looked very real from some angles.

What a stupid date for a game. 4 days AFTER Christmas? Not going to happen.

Okay, I make fun of GT5 for never coming out, but that video was amazing. The horse on the back was incredibly detailed, and much more impressive than the Forza 3 version.
However, I will be playing (and done playing) Forza 3 before GT5 comes out, so it really isn't a contest.

GT5 video definitely has more detail to it, the car, the track and the scenery.
As stated though amazon says Dec. 29 for a release date. That will most likely change, with the official announcement coming on Sept 24 for those interested. My guess is March, 2010.
Because seriously, as fuhteng said: who would release the game 4 days after Christmas?

I like my PS3 and have always liked the Playstation controllers the best. Not dissing on the Xbox though its got its good points.
My vote is for GT5.

I love my PS3 and the second game I ever bought for it was Prologue, but this release date is ridiculous. That said I'll just keep waiting for GT5 over Forza. My original XBOX has failed me on several occasions and right now its motherboard needs to be replaced. My PS3 complements my MacBook nicely, after my wonderful Microsoft XBOX experience...

dlibby: I agree. Forza 3 has a look to it where you just know and feel like "it's a game" whereas GT5 delivers visuals that sometimes look freakishly photo realistsic.
I've played GT5 Prologue and it looks even better on your own TV at home. The visual detail and quality in GT5 is just insane.

had an XB360, broke with less than 10 hours of playing it. prior to that, the tray would only eject in very specific positions, and only occasionally at that. everyone i know had to have it sent in because it broke; mine broke like a week after its 1-year warranty expired (i don't get to play much). threw the damn thing away and gave away my Forza2. i hate unreliable products.
the PS3 is reliable like a Corolla, can take a good beating. cannot believe GT5 is taking so long ... GT Prologue is such a mockery of the fans. the only redeeming quality is the "professional" setting that allows more realistic physics than any other game.

Well now, at some points the GT5 video looked better than other points in the video. From what I could see the whole Forza 3 video looked like the gameplay graphics, which are great but could be a little better, and the GT5 graphics look like a mix of gameplay which is excellent, and then a little opening video graphics, which always look much better than gameplay. So I don't know about that one. Either way I wish I could own get both games, unfortunately I don't have the money to run out and get a PS3, otherwise I would definitely get GT5, but I do have Forza 3 preordered and that will be good for me because I love both games.

@ jederino,
Forza2 was easier than GT4 in terms of car control, especially to drift. "Professional" setting on GTPrologue is much harder and, I think, realistic. I don't know if Forza3 will continue the trend? Besides, you can play Blue Rays on PS3; I don't even know if they sell HD DVDs anymore?
