If you sell luxury SUVs, it's not enough just to sell them in the U.S. anymore. Rather, you need a presence in the other big market: China. And so the world's first glimpse at the redesigned 2010 Lexus GX, successor to the existing GX 470 (the old model is shown above), will come next month in Shanghai.
Undoubtedly, it will share its platform architecture and major drivetrain components with the 2010 Toyota 4Runner, also redesigned, and scheduled to debut September 24 at the Texas State Fair. Update: And it's rumored that Toyota will unveil the European-market Land Cruiser, which is essentially a GX under a different name and badge, at this month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
The all-new 2010 Lexus GX will arrive at U.S. dealers in December. Full product details will be released in late November.

Pictures of the 2010 Land Cruiser Prado (GX470 clone) already showed up. Should be exactly the same save a few details in the grille and lamps

How old is this thing?

It debuted for 2003, same year as the last 4Runner redesign.

@jaguar8: I tried to communicate in the entry that the photo was of the old GX 470, but I guess I wasn't clear enough. I'll edit the wording.

Good thing. The current one is getting a bit stale. Thats said, the carscoop photos look very vanilla cream.

Its a lexus! What lexus (isF and gsF excluded) isn't vanilla cream?
Lexus is really letting this car age. I guess it has sold well, because honestly i almost as many of these as RX! I don't think i have seen the "new" LX yet!
I do wonder what lexus is going to do with the SC430. Its on the previous Lexus GS platform which was replaced almost 4 years ago. The SC430 debuted in... 2001? Next one (if there is one) should sell quite well.

It's about freakin' time!
And I agree with autoboy.
Is Lexus EVER going to redesign the SC430?
Or at least turn it into the SC460?

All new and all old. I doubt that the new one will look much different, because there's only so much that can be done with the ubiquitous two box SUV shape that has been around so long it's tiresome.
Unfortunately, this is why we're seeing weird monstrosities like the BMW X6 and that Honda coupe/SUV thing, or whatever they call it. Those vehicles compromise one of the main reasons for having an SUV in the first place.
