After the online unveil of the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics last week, there wasn't much left to do but look at the thing in person. So we did, for quite awhile.
It's an odd beast for sure, one of those cars that looks like some of kind of creature more than an automobile. The fact that it supposedly packs plenty of performance into its strange curves doesn't make it any easier to swallow.
Strip away all the fancy artwork and the drivetrain is actually quite an interesting combination of diesel and electric drive technology. Who knows how much of it is engineering bluster, though, as concept cars are known for making claims they can't back up.
It all seems reasonable in this case, except for the skin around it, of course. Then again, who would have noticed if they had shoved all that technology beneath a 3 Series sedan? Not many, but we hope someday BMW does just that.

Exorbitant. Its more outlandish looking in these pictures than I noticed before.
I like the sides better.

Although this is obviously over the top, I think its beautifully executed. I Can't wait to see elements of this design in upcoming BMW's.

The drivetrain/chassis setup is very plausible. I've actually posted elsewhere numerous times that a setup much like this (think: Chrysler Intrepid hybrid concepts from the late 90's and early 00's) would be extremely plausible and very efficient.

The front end and greenhouse show exactly what the Camaro SHOULD have been; I love the Camaro's sexy styling, but I understand one of its main failings is the horrible visibility---and its bleeech dashboard.

This car is simply stunning.
