You may have noticed that we failed to bring you the breaking story of a certain Porsche hatchback that appeared on the web a few weeks back. It was quite clear to us at the time that it was bogus (a never-before-seen prototype left sitting unattended in an alley?) and now it has been exposed as such by the New York Times.
Turns out it was nothing more than a well-orchestrated hoax by Jared Holstein, the former editor of TopGearUSA.com. Since the brass at the BBC decided to disband the editorial staff, Jared and friends decided to make a little going away present in the form of a computer-generated Boxster hatchback thing. They then distributed the video around the net and let everyone else make up the rest.
All we can say is, nice job Jared, nice job.
