Michael Schumacher announced on his website that he would not be able to return to Formula One to fill in for injured teammate Felipe Massa.
Schumacher cited pain from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident earlier this year.
In a post on his personal website, Schumacher wrote the following: "Yesterday evening, I had to inform Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo and Team Principal Stefano Domenicali that unfortunately I'm not able to step in for Felipe. I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible, however, much to my regret it didn't work out. Unfortunately we did not manage to get a grip on the pain in the neck which occurred after the private F1-day in Mugello, even if medically or therapeutically we tried everything possible.
Ferrari announced that it would allow Luca Badoer, a Ferrari test driver, to take Schumacher's place in Massa's car.

I bet everyone involved was very disappointed in this. Probably most especially, Schumi! Personally, I'm a little glad though, because I was predicting catastrophe. I feel that un-retiring is tempting fate too much, and auto racing is so dangerous.

Driving around the streets are dangerous enough as it is. A jeep full of kids got shot at yesterday because they stopped too long at a stop sign. One of the kids got both legs shot. (Thanks bring-your-gun-to-work/Keep-it-in-your-car law!)

PR stunt? Watch Schumi change his mind?

That's unfortunate, however Luca Badoer is a great driver!
