The Alfa Romeo 8C has been trickling into the U.S. for months now, but its minuscule numbers have largely kept it a secret. This version should help raise its profile a little.

Dubbed the Alfa Romeo 8C GTA, this special high-performance model was designed to put the 8C in the same performance category as the Ferrari 430 Scuderia and Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.
For that, the 8C GTA may get a reworked version of its standard 4.7-liter V8 that produces roughly 500 horsepower, but the 4.5-liter, direct injected V8 from the recently revealed Ferrari 458 Italia is another possible solution. It puts out a whopping 570 hp, but would certainly come detuned in the GTA to avoid upsetting the corporate heirarchy.
To help lighten its load, Alfa will strip down the 8C's interior and use all carbon fiber for the additional exterior body components. The total savings is expected to be nearly 300 pounds.
A reworked suspension will likely result in a lower ride height, while carbon-ceramic brake discs will be optional. The exhaust system will be a high-flow version of the standard setup with triple tips out back just like the Ferrari Italia.
As tempting as it all looks, we'll be lucky to see any in the U.S. Only 100 or so are expected to go on sale worldwide and only a handful, if any, will come our way.

and the rear- some style questions there too-
large expanse of black trim is not to handsome...
and the three exhaust tips is not an aesthetic mark to emulate, even if it came from Ferrarai. 8 is not evenly divisible by 3.

Ok. It has a classic Alfa look (good for some, ugly for others). That aside, what's up with the white tu-tone on the front end?

I Like this 8C car and this version is different/sharp. The only thing about the 8C thus far that has really gotten me is the GI-NORMOUS price tag! I know it's not at all a similar car but I really, really like the the Lotus Evora and when I scrolled down and read the price....I thought while expensive it seemed about right. When I came across the price with this car I was blown away. Now when I see the car mentioned, "yeah but" pops into my head right away.

front mask and blackout rear panel are shades of a real GTA or TZ1, except for those wheels, true Afla GTA look is not spokes...

It's nice that Alfa is participating in the 50 year celebration of the Ford Edsel.
