Frankfurt: BMW Coupe Concept Caught in Transit

I dunno. That looks like there is a good looking car under there. The only issue I can see from the photo is the nose possibly being too tall.

I'm wondering where BMW's design language will go without Mr. Bangle?

the first halfway decent looking car from BMW is months. NO, maybe years...

She's got a sleek body - but I'm worried about the face... I have a sinking feeling it will look like a combination of wild boar and Evo X.

Unfortunately, the face is the way it is to meet German pedestrian impact standards. If you look closely at most new German cars, their front ends don't slope down like they used to. Anyway, I think the car will be a nice looking package overall.

Looks a bit SUVish/crossover-like to me, instead of a true coupe.

I know exactly what this is. This is not a super car or anything, it's a 5 coupé. The 6 Series will be redesigned to match the new 7, with the new engine and probably slightly larger dimensions the price and competition with the Mercedes CL will go up. So the 6 will compete with the CL. This leaves a gap with competition, considering the E coupé, so this coupé will compete with the E coupé. Or there is another theory that this is the 6 Series redesign.
But, the latter of the two seems most likely.

If you read posts by Scott26 in the original thread on Bimmerpost (he is a legit BMW insider), he gives a lot of info on this. Its the new 6 series GT (next in line after 5GT). Its a 4 door coupe with rear-hinged doors, and the higher ride height seen is due to shipping blocks

This has to be a staged teaser photo. Why would BMW just cover half the car? And look, there's an audience in the reflection of the window.

well duh, it's the new 6 series, the rear is hammered in into an ugly curved shape, typical ugly bmw. and thats not a concept its the real thing, look at the door, the red part goes down and meets the bottom silver thing like the x6's door.

Looks hideous what ever it is...
