If you haven't heard of the Devon GTX yet, this video is a nice little introduction. Built by Devon Motorworks based in Irvine, Ca, the GTX is a new low volume supercar based on the Dodge Viper. It uses a massaged 8.4-liter V10 with a steel frame and a carbon fiber body. As you might expect, it's quite fast and quite expensive -- $500,000 to be exact. Production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2010.

Besides originality, this car is pointless.

A difference of only 4/100th of a second? If the thing were drop dead gorgeous it might make a case for itself, but I'm unimpressed. Something about low volume sports/supercars that just never seems to work properly.
I would buy a Ferrari F430 Scuderia for track use and an Alfa Romeo 8C as my showpiece. Both can be had for the preposterous $500,000 they are asking for this.
Oh and "Devon GTX"? What kind of name is that for a supercar?

It just about lost me with the stupid lambo-doors. However, name one reason why I would prefer this over a 599 with the expensive sport package? Nice idea, but I am far from impressed.

It's styled nicely enough, but the pricetag is insane. A TVR with 4 years worth on maintenance would be cheaper than this and those look better.

I have to agree with the others. Saying "I'm taking my Devon to the track today" is hard to trade for "I'm taking my Ferrari out today". Especially for the price and style.

It'd certainly be more one-of-a-kind than a Ferrari or Porsche at a private track. That alone would be worth the price of admission for the sociopaths that'll buy this thing.
