World Car of the Year Nominees Announced

wcoty-120.jpg There are many "car of the year" awards, but only one World Car of the Year, at least as far as we know. The award been given out for the past seven years now and is slowly gaining importance as it includes such a broad swath of potential vehicles and jurors.

This year's list of nominees has just been released and it includes some interesting hometown favorites like the Chevrolet Camaro and Cadillac SRX.

They're thrown in with European vehicles like the Citroen C3 Picasso, Nissan Patrol and Renault Scenic which makes for an interesting competition. Full list of nominees after the jump.

For those wondering where Ford is: The "must be available on two continents" requirement, excludes most Ford and Mopar products. Hopefully, once Ford starts doing more cross continent models, that'll change.

I agree it doesnt seem that distinguished of an award, but I'd vote for the Chevy Cruze. It could be the benchmark for the segment-worldwide (then again I've never driven it). And what's the Infiniti QX?

If I had to vote a car from this list, I'd choose the Jaguar XJ. The reason is that it had a long overdue of geting it redesigned and once they redesigned the thing, it looked magnificent!!!
