We Drive Ken Block's Subaru Impreza WRX STI

You watched Ken Block slide a Subaru Impreza WRX STI not once but twice. You've read other people's accounts of what it's like to go for a ride with Ken Block in his gymkhana 2008 Subaru WRX STI prepared by Crawford Performance.

Now Chief Road Test Editor Josh Jacquot tells you what it's like to actually drive Ken Block's Subaru. And put it through our usual battery of instrumented testing. There's no so such thing as a casual drive in this STI, which wafts smoke all around you and hits 115 decibels at wide-open throttle.

The only way to overcome the grip of the 275/35R18 BFGoodrich g-Force Drag Radials Crawford installed on the car for our acceleration tests is to engage the clutch as engine speed is increasing -- somewhere between 6,500 and 7,000 rpm," Josh writes. "It's a process not unlike what we use to get a stock STI out of the hole -- sort of a rev, rev, rev, then dump the clutch.

"The result, however, isn't at all the same. How does 60 mph in 3.0 seconds sound?"

Yeah, your 94 camaro would smoke that rice burner with a quicker 1/4 than a ZR1 vette? Oh yes, and 5th on the STi is broken. Is that mullet cutting off blood flow to your brain?
