Videos: Jay Leno Unveils 2010 Jaguar XJ in London

And would you believe he didn't like it? No, of course you wouldn't.

For more subtance on the redesigned 2010 Jaguar XJ, Ed Hellwig gives you all the details on the design and engineering of the redesigned XJ in our first look. This is Jag's most ambitious-looking sedan in decades, he writes, and given that the current XJ isn't even on the radar of luxury sedan buyers, just getting people to notice it in the first place is critical -- even if not all reactions are positive.

Another clip of Leno talking about a childhood encounter with a Jaguar XK120 after the jump. Plus, various other videos from Jaguar on the XJ itself.

And this last one is sort of a compilation video hastily edited together by Jaguar that includes running footage (following several powerpoint slides), and in the final two minutes, brief discussion by Mike O'Driscoll, managing director for Jaguar, and Ian Callum, Jag's chief of design.

Why did Jag black out the C pillar? It looks totally out of place and does nothing to change the fact that the car looks a little bulky in the haunches. It actually takes away from the otherwise decent flow of the overall design.

c-pillar and all, not a bad looking car.

This new XJ looks really impressive. The interior detailing is really beautiful, and looks like it will rival that from competing German brands (plus it looks like a warmer, more inviting environment). And FINALLY, the exterior styling brings Jag into the modern era, yet looks distinctly British in my opinion, especially with that grille shape, hood bulge, and cascading tail lamps. I'd personally be a little worried about that completely-electronic instrument display, especially since Jag is known for having some weird, quirky electrical gremlins. Imagine losing your IP while driving!! However, the graphics of it, especially when switching the gears in manual mode, are pretty cool. The dual display dash screen is pretty innovative as well. It's almost holographic (at least that's the way it looks from the video). Sorta surprising coming from a British brand, since it always seems like the Germans are two steps ahead in the tech department, but I'm happy to see Jag stepping up their game. Can't wait to see it in person!

I hate the S-Class and the BMW 7-series... which is why the only luxo barges I used to look at were the Audi A8 W12 and the Maserati Quatroporte.
This Jag joins them... right up there on the top of the list. :)
I love it!

I have to take back my earlier comments about this car as pictures alone don't do it justice. Although I still fill the rear of the cars design is a bit off its road presence and elegant styling is significant. Great job Jaguar!

The lines look more like they come from Volvo than Jag. That'll take some getting used to.
