Video: First Look at Ford Fiesta Rallycross for Pikes Peak

One of the two Ford Fiestas participating in Sunday's Pikes Peak Hill Climb came out of hiding at a Colorado Ford dealership this week. The car, known as the Fiesta Rallycross, is based on the Fiesta R2 rally car unveiled in May.

These Fiestas belong to Sweden's Olsberg Motor Sport Evolution team and will be driven at Pikes Peak by Finnish rally driver Marcus Gronholm and team manager Andreas Eriksson. The cars and their drivers are now running practice sessions in the mountains in advance of Sunday's hill climb. It's hoped that the Fiesta Rallycross will crack the 10-minute mark in the Unlimited class.

Sweet. I really miss the days of watching the hill climb on SPEED channel. I have been hearing a lot of hype about this year's event (the RMR time trials, and Ford Fiestas) and there is no TV coverage this year. Lame.

It'll be cool to see how Marcus does! I hope the Ford RS200 can break the 10 minute barrier, too!

That looked great. Ford should use it for an ad for the new Fiesta.

I agree about SPEED channel. I used to watch it all the time but now it's choked with crap like Pimp my ride, Passtime and Pinks. When they do show racing it's normally NASCAR or something simular on an oval.

I wonder if the BBC has version of SPEED I can access somehow.
