Jim Russell Racing Drivers School (JRRDS) has teamed up with Mitsubishi for a new driver training course using a rallied-out Lancer Evo called the "Jim Russell Lancer Evolution Experience."
The $1,000 program includes a full day of instruction, starting in the classroom and moving to the tarmac after a few lessons on the chalkboard. The curriculum is focused on improving driver's technique, speed and car control skills on the twisties of Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.
"We have been using the 4G63 engines in our Lola-built school cars and found them to be exceptionally reliable. The launch of The Jim Russell Lancer Evolution Experience strengthens our position as the leader in delivering new concepts and deliverables for automotive manufacturers seeking to broaden their customer base," said Chip Pankow, president of JRRDS.
Two of the cars to be used at the school will be shown at Mitsubishi Owners Day (M.O.D.) on July 11 in Cypress, California. A 4G63-powered, single-seat F3 car will also be among the ranks of Mitsubishi Eclipses, 3000GTs, Lancers and Starions at the event.
