You don't have to be a classic car enthusiast to appreciate the 1952 Jaguar C-Type - especially this one. On top of a brilliant green livery, it still has the original 3.4-liter twin overhead cam six-cylinder that makes 160 horsepower under the hood.
This one is code-named XKC-007 (just a coincidence, Bond fans), and was the first one to make the jump across the pond to the States. It arrived in New York on August 1, 1952, and changed hands a few times before ending up as a show car in the nineties.
The car was raced by Phil Hill during the 1952 season, where he was victorious at the Torrey Pines Road Races.
It will roll onto the auction block August 15 at RM's three-day Sports & Classics of Monterey event.

Automotive engineering may have advanced since when this car was built, but automotive aesthetics sure hasn't. I've seen a few C types like this one in person. There are others vehicles from this era and earlier that are just as stunning. They are gorgeous machines - mobile artwork. Nothing modern even comes close IMO.
