What You See When You Drive Off a Cliff

Look, we're sure we all know what it feels like to drive over the edge of a 300-foot cliff. But what does it look like?

Well, thanks to Jari-Matti Latvala's little stunt show earlier this year at the Rally de Portugal, now you know. It looks like a film student's experimental class-project/magnum opus.

Latvala scores bonus points in our book for:

1. Not dying.
2. Making sure to get the Ford blue oval in front of the camera during the crash (gotta be mindful of the who pays the bills!).
3. A  fine bit of understatement in the post-crash interview: "I did not expect that it will jump."

Also, if you watch closely, we're pretty sure you'll briefly see the eyes of Satan in the footage.

That's nothing compared to Petter Solberg's crash from hitting a hinklesteine in the Rally Deutschland 2004.

I dunno suby. I think Latvala won this one. I darn near pissed my pants watching it.

whoever designed and built the roll cage deserves an award.

Latvala's occupant cabin isn't as smooshed as Solberg's was!

I love how anytime something related to Rallying (or really most things racing related, for that matter) Subytrojan comes in with something perfect from his encyclopedic knowledge. Way to go. And yes, I think Solberg's crash was a little worse, but the clip of Latvala wins for showing extra angles.

Those roll cages are worth their weight in gold, for sure.
