When the now-canceled Knight Rider series debuted with KITT as a Shelby GT500KR, many Camaro enthusiasts were disappointed that the Mustang was picked over the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.
If you take one look at the mail slot on the hood of the Camaro though, you can't help but think that the new Chevy pony car was destined to at least have an LED light scanner.
And a Camaro5 enthusiast agrees. Member "Spaceballone" found a 64 LED KITT scanner that can be hard-wired to the battery. The company that makes the system says that each new light comes with 3 patterns, ranging from the classic Knight Rider scanning light pattern in blue to the Knight Rider 2008 pattern in orange. Right now, some modification is still necessary to get the light to fit, although expect a plug-and-play kit KITT to be available soon.
Each system runs for about $160, and you can check out the company's Web site here.
Be careful though, if you are running a blue or red scanner, you might find yourself with some flashing blue and reds in your rear-view -- those colors are illegal to have activated while driving.

Good thing you included web site link, so I could verify it's available in red. What's with the blue in the video? Do these people know nothing about KITT?
Now, I'd also have to hook up a PA system in the car so I can blast the Knight Rider theme everywhere I go.

This is what KITT should be.

KITT should have been a Camaro. I tried to watch the new show. I did. Because I really like the old one as cheesy as it was. It was great fun to watch and I even have a couple seasons on DVD. But I couldn't get into the new show.
Anyway, what is up with the blue?? And yes add it to the list of ultimately dumb accessories. But I think I would still get it. I like Knight Rider and I still think it's cool. Dumb but cool. Just not in blue.

I'm pretty sure red is the original color, not blue as is mentioned in the blog entry.
