In addition to Gran Turismo Mobile, Gran Turismo 5, Forza 3, Need for Speed Shift and DiRT, there are a couple other driving games that got some attention at E3.
Blur is an arcade-style racing game with combat for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It's the work of Bizarre Creations (pubished by Activision) of Project Gotham Racing fame. And we know it isn't going to appeal to you GT/Forza diehards.
Except, that it has one very cool feature that's sorely missing on GT5 Prologue: a social network interface. This would allow you to create custom races that include only your friends, gaming site 1up.com reports, and if you wish, that don't allow the use of weapons or power-ups.
Blur also looks to have a decent amount of manufacturer licenses. In the E3 trailer, we picked out a Challenger, an Evo, a 1 Series, a Viper, a G8 and (wait, do I have cataracts?) a Ford Transit Connect.
The other "game" of note is Joy Ride for the Xbox 360. Trailer after the jump.
Joy Ride isn't really a full game; rather it's a kart race for your Xbox Live avatar. It'll be a free download, but a report on the gaming site joystiq suggests you'll quickly be bombarded by all sorts of microtransaction opportunities.
Very likely, then, Joy Ride will serve as an entertaining storefront for all manner of downloadable content on Xbox Live. But that probably won't stop us from wanting to try it anyway.

So blur looks like a version of Mario Kart using "real" cars... although the "powerups" are different the basic idea is the same... if I had a PS3 or 360 I'd probably buy it. But all I have is a Wii... :D

I'm usually one for realistic driving simulations like GT or Forza, but Blur actually looks pretty cool. If the driving dynamics have even a semblance of realism (ie. NOT like a lot of the NFS games) then it may be fun. I love the damage and rickittiness of the vehicles. Reminds me of the Twisted Metal days :-)
Joy Ride just looks lame...
