It's going to be sad if GM failed yet again and sold Hummer off to a Chinese group instead of that American consortium who wanted it several weeks ago, especially if it was for less money.

I'm wondering what becomes of the military-spec HumVee.

The military Humvee is produced by AMC.
As predicted, GM sold off Hummer to China. And guess what? The U.S. government sponsored it with taxpayer money, all while GM told American interests to piss off:

I wonder what they will do with the Hummer name and look. That's all they are really getting.
Real Humvees are long gone and current models are just Hummer-like bodies on GM trucks.
Will we see Hummer- like bodies on Chinese cars?

Will be interesting to see which way they go with Hummer; serious off-roader, or bling-bling citified looker.
...and what did happen with the H1 series hummer? I assume that, being a military vehicle, was retained under USA ownership only?

I believe the H1 was cancelled in 2006.
