So the question on everyone's minds is: if we ever go to war with China, who gets the Hummers?

Why not just sell baseball, the Statue of Liberty, and apple pie to the Chinese while we're at it?

AM General is the company who makes the H1 HMMV, and is not affected by the sale. GM produces the H2 and H3.

We're selling our national soul to China.

Please, our national soul is in the products we create, not the products themselves.

Besides, I'd hardly call the H3 the epitome of the American dream.

Maybe we can fight off the Chinese with Italian-made Jeeps. . .

I still don't know what the big deal is. The H2 and H3 are sight gags whose time has come and gone. If there was any demand for them, GM would still be selling them.

So now some Chinese get to drive around and say "Look at me, my car looks like an army truck".

What's the problem with that?

We'll let the Chinese keep the Hummers, they are pretty much death traps anyway. Now if we can just unload AM General on them too.

I could be wrong, but isn't Chevrolet the one that's supposed to go with baseball and apple pie?

No surprises here.

cwc1 is right, AM General manufactures the 'h1' for military use, also, as it's no longer a civilian vehicle, what really are we losing? the h2, and h3, the biggest nastiest gas guzzlers on the road? besides, if you love them so much, buy one used, there was only one body style, it's not like it's that big of a deal. Hummer was a lead weight in my opinion and probably helped drag gm into the murky waters in which it now lays, so good riddance.
