Have you ever wondered why firemen, paramedics and even mailmen have special purpose-built vehicles, when police are stuck in your Grandma's souped up Crown Vic?
Well, Carbon Motors set out to change that, and has already received over 10,000 requests for one of its E7 copmobiles. They're loaded with high-tech gadgetry like a radiation sensor (if you happen to be around a WMD), night vision cameras, an automatic license plate recognition system, a waterproof back seat and a diesel engine that generates 300 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. You can check out the full specs sheet here.
Don't plan on seeing one of these bad boys in your rear-view anytime soon -- production isn't slated to start until 2012.

NICE.

But now we need a special vehicle designed to prevent the abuse of power by the police.

How about one to prevent the whining of criminals who weren't treated nice enough?

Not Applicable in U.S.

I think even the US has more bad criminals then bad cops.

Departments are preordering these things 3 years in advance? At best!?
Still, 7K orders is pretty darned good.

Not gonna lie, I kinda want one for myself.
My dad is in law-enforcement, and he's pretty cynical about moving beyond the Crown Vic. He brushed off the idea of ever moving to Chargers. Yet whenever this is brought up in discussion, he gets really excited about it.

Chargers are better than the Impalas some depts. down here are getting.

looks like the body of a Charger with Saab headlights.
specs look a bit slow for 300hp, but i guess the weight etc are a factor.

NO WAY they build this thing to listed specs for the same price as a kitted Crown Vic, Charger or Impala. NO WAY.

Chargers make for good looking cop cars.

It looks a little strange for now, but once 2012 comes around, the Carbon E7 will probably look better than the pictures.
I also think that its gonna be hard to get used to seeing a Carbon E7 around the streets in the future since most of us see Crown Vics, Chargers, or Impalas most of the time. I also wonder when Carbon is ever going to make an SUV version of the E7. And for now, the best cop cars in my view is the Crown Vic and the Charger. The only reason why I don't like the Impala that much is that its not RWD and that it doesn't have the supercharged V8 engine its regular SS brother has. If it had one of those, I'll probably like the Impala a little more.

From their specs page: "Recommended Fuel: Ultra-low sulfur (ULS) Diesel or Biodiesel"
Biodiesel -- nice!

When are we going to see the cop bike from the new star trek movie?

Cops? Let em drive a Prius.
