I get into Atlanta without incident, and I feel right at home when the I-75/I-85 interchange becomes a Friday afternoon parking lot. However, as soon as I check into my downtown Hampton Inn, I manage to disassemble the housing for our 2010 Ford Taurus tester's autodimming rearview mirror while attaching the parking lot hang tag. I don't have the dexterity to reaattach it so the housing dangles for rest of the trip.
Possibly, this is a comment on the velcro Ford uses to attach the housing, but very likely, this is also an instance of a ham-handed editor manhandling a car.
I take the hint and turn my attention to ribs. If you go to Daddy D'z in Atlanta's Grant Park neighborhood, you'd be wise to order the rib/dark-meat chicken combo platter with the collards as one of your sides. Later, we pay a visit to the Brick Store Pub (where you'll find more varieties of Belgian beer than even the Belgians have) in Decatur, GA. And, yes, I have the presence of mind to park the Taurus and we hop a MARTA train instead.

That mostrously large thing is part of the mirror? The auto dimming mirror in my Subaru is just a slightly thcker version of the regular mirror,

wow, either the parking tag was made in steel or Ford is back to having minor irritating issues. By the way, agree with bankerdanny here... why the heck is that mirror housing so big?
"Possibly, this is a comment on the velcro Ford uses to attach the housing, but very likely, this is also an instance of a ham-handed editor manhandling a car." ... HUH?

My Mercedes has a large box (not THAT large) that the mirror itself is attached to on the windshield. The box houses a whole array of sensors facing out like the rain and light sensors for the wipers and headlights. It looks like these new Fords are getting a lot more high tech now so I would guess there is a lot more to it than just auto dimmer.

As much as I like this car, that does look massive. I gotta see it in real life. If it really was that bad, people would have mentioned it.

I'm guessing that it looks big from this angle. With the rake of the windshield it probably is much less noticeable from the normal seated perspective.
Erin ...... don't you mean "rib/dark-meat"-handed editor?
Somehow I can't envision you as the ham-handed/manhandling type....could be wrong.

Usually I defend cars when something breaking is the result of someone admitting to handling it roughly, but hanging a parking tag on a mirror is a very common thing, and the housing should be secure enough to handle someone hanging one, even in a clumsy fashion. I ding Ford a point for that one.

Haha, they use velcro to attach it? Is it the same velcro used to hide the wires under the seats of the CTS. Shouldn't be a surprise because I am sure they use the same supplier of velcro.
