A source has told Inside Line news that the latest version of the Lexus LF-A production car is now capable of hitting 220mph. Toyota engineers has previously expressed disappointment with the top speed of the earlier LF-A prototypes.
Changes to the car's aerodynamics and a few engine upgrades were largely responsible for the increased speeds. The same source also said that the final production car is expected to arrive at the Tokyo auto show in October with a price tag between $220,000 and $250,000.

So expensive! I will get one when I have a lot of money. If It's really better than concept, It will be better than the Lamborghini.

This car will not have buyers at that price level. The vast majority of Lexi on the road are the re-badged Camrys driven by blue rinse ladies.
There isn't enough cache in that badge to be asking that kind of money.

I seriously beg to differ. Lexus, at least over here, is indefinately more popular and prestigious. The fact that it's built by Toyota also seems to be a major buying factor for those who are interested in Lexus. I've seen many of the younger generations driving Lexus vehicles more often than any german manufacturer. Now, as to compare the LF-A to a Ferrari or a Lamborghini is a completely different scale. Ultimately, I think people will veer towards the LF-A not because it's an alternative towards European supercars, but rather because it is a Lexus. And another note is that much of the younger generation that has grown with and knows about the performance of the Toyota Supra will forever be persuaded into buying an LF-A, should their budget approve, or at the very least consider it as their "dream car".

Its too bad the LF-A caught fire at the race. Not a good way to impress potential customers.
