First Ride: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO

Taurus-SHO-c-950.jpg

So we didn't get to drive it just yet, but the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO is still worth discussing. With the Pontiac G8 on its way out, the Taurus SHO will be one of the few remaining American performance sedans. Sure, there's no V8, but a 365-horsepower twin-turbo V6 seems like a adequate replacement.

We won't know just how good this new SHO really is until we get our hands on one for testing. Until then, we'll have to be content with a second-hand impression from the passenger seat. So far, the impressions are quite promising.

Looks like an Outback suspension in that picture! I'm assuming there is some elevation change going on there though...

Its vigorously turning left and leaning on its right suspension/tires.

It took 2 turbos to reach 365hp, on a V6!?

Wait, I misread that. I thought it said 265hp.

Wow, 365 via FWD must be something.

Estreka, its AWD.

The styling is bold, if not entirely interesting. It does have side vents like an M3, and the interior looks good enough to be an Audi.

I never thought a Taurus could be desireable. Is this the same motor that's going to replace the Mustang GT's V8?

It sounds good, but I'm holding back until we see production models.

Nice looking interior. Lots of buttons though. That doesn't bother me, but bothers a lot of people.

Take off the Taurus badge and the exterior looks pretty good.

With its front drive bias converted to all wheel drive, I doubt it will favorably compare to the G8, even with 365 HP. And its V6 won't have that alluring sound that the G8 does either.

Wow, it looks like it's on stilts...

Looks pretty good with a lift kit. Now all it needs is gaudy 24"s.

cwc:

It wont sound as good but it should perform quite well. A FWD based car can handle well with AWD- just look at the TL. This is one of the best Ford products ever.

msdaisy:

The car is airborne and is coming down. Thats not its regular stance.
