The under car shots were interesting as you can cleary see the energy going through the chassis of the car as it was designed to do. The passenger compartment seemed to be in good shape.

Once again lack of knowledge doesn't stop people from posting. Not sure what saftey is, but those looking for safety should note that the front of the car is flattened because it's designed to do so in order that the energy isn't passed on to the passenger compartment. You know, where you and not the engine sit. If you look at the WHOLE car, you'll see that the passenger compartment is pretty much intact. First responders, if not the occupants themselves, could probably open the doors without tools.

dg0472, unfortunately we live in a society where people (alphaking is an example) continue to think that cars that purposely crumple upon impact arent built like the old cars. Older cars didnt crumple nearly as much however the passengers had to absorb much more of the energy created by the crash and had the potential for more serious and even fatal injuries.
In regards to the Venza above, the crumple zones and other safety systems simply did their job and did it well.

The NHTSA test isn't a very good test in the first place. I'd be more interested in seeing what IIHS has to say about it when it's tested the way cars should be tested ... off-set towards the driver.

Dang that's be sweet to be on speedball and weed at the same time in the Venza, cuz you know the Venza has all the storage compartments you need; so many that the cops will never figure out where you stashed the... stash!

billt9, thanks for clearing up what he meant by that.
