IIHS Crash Test: Toyota Yaris vs. Toyota Camry

More from the "big car vs. small car" crash test series. This time it's Toyota's smallest car (at least in the U.S.), the Yaris sedan against the Toyota Camry sedan. Care to guess the result?

Seeing those two overrated, soulless appliances sent to a violent, gruesome death put a big smile on my face.

Wow..did anyone else notice how badly the A-pillar of the Yaris collapsed? At least the Smart (relatively) maintained the integrity of the passenger cell.

I'd be interesting if they measured the deceleration on the occupant as well. Small cars (especially the Smart) are going to look even worse, even in the past tests where they hit unmovable objects.

Small cars are fantastic. They handle well, sip fuel, are easy to maintain, and easy to park.

Oh, did i mention I drive a full size car.

I would deem the Yaris unsafe just by seeing how the headrest comes out of place somewhere between 1:40-1:50... And why on earth must the Trunk pop up?!?

I wonder how Honda did? And Nissan... And Chevy... and...

first portion of the video shows a 40 mph closing speed with the barrier. then the second portion has both vehicles moving at 40 mph for an 80 mph closing speed. gee, i wonder why the second collision was more violent...

A traffic accident on Bee Caves Road in West Travis County has killed one woman.

The crash happened at approximately 11 a.m. at 10700 FM 2244 (Bee Caves Road) about a mile east of Highway 71.

A Department of Public Safety trooper says a tan Toyota pickup truck driven by Richard Hanson, 68, and white Mazda RX-8, driven by Rex Allan Brewer, 22, were traveling westbound through a traffic light. The Mazda lost control and hit the rear end of the pickup causing it to spin out of control into oncoming traffic.

The pickup collided with a purple Toyota Yaris, which was driven by Linda Gail Hartner, 54. Hartner was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the pickup was injured and went to the hospital. The driver of the Mazda RX8 was not hurt.
