In what can only be called anti-climatic, the 2010 Porsche Panamera made its first public appearance at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show. This after years of seeing lightly disguised prototypes crisscrossing the world, not to mention a recent technical briefing and ride along at Porsche's research center.
If anything, this look at the Porsche Panamera is another chance to give it the once over and contemplate whether you would rather have this sedan over a new BMW 7-Series or the upcoming 2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Just to be different...I think I WOULD take a Porsche, even though everyone would think of me as a complete idiot.

Don't do it! You'd rather be seen in a Jaguar XF-S, or a Maser Quattroporte. Everyone will say about this, "Why didn't you get a 911? Are those the Boxter headlamps? Is this based on the Boxter?"

I would buy the Porsche over the S class or the 7 series anyday. It's much more interesting to look at and isn't known as an old mans car (at least not yet).
If anyone asked asked why I didn't get a 911, I would ask him to climb into the back seat of one and see if he clued in.

I saw a couple of these this weekend in the Santa Monica mountains. In the flesh they still look lame. I'm sure they're swell to drive though.

That fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!
Porsche should hire a design department. Even Bangle's worst efforts are better than Porsche's.

I didnt like the Cayenne ( I like the Cayenne Turbo) when I first saw the pictures. The more I saw Cayennes the more I grew to like them. Their styling could be compared to an English bulldog, so ugly its attractive. I have 2 English bulldogs BTW.
This Panamera is no different as I like things outside the norm. If I was in the market for a high end high performance/luxury sedan it would be between the Panamera Turbo and the Maserati Quattroporte. Whats better than a 4 door Porsche 911 Turbo or a 4 door Ferrari F430?
