We promise this will be the last Chevrolet Camaro post for at least...a day or so.
Figured you might want to check out the Camaro configurator on Chevrolet's official website. It's one of the better such devices as it gives you a rotatable view of the car that changes as you add and remove options.
We like the look of this base LS with the heritage wheels and side stripes. Not bad for $23,505

Don't forget the 304 hp and IRS you get for that $23K. Just a minor correction, that's the LS model, which is still very nicely equipped. I wish you could get the heritage wheels on other models. It would be a cool sleeper look, and a welcome change from the chromed out flashy dubs everything else comes with these days.

@stov001: You are right, base LS, fixed.

1SS w/RS pkg, 6spd Auto, 20" polished = $33,600
I don't know, a V6 Camaro just doesn't sound right to me... $34K is a lot of scratch but still undercuts the Mustang and looks 2000% sexier

Love how the SS2 looks in black paint with the inferno orange stripe, ground affects option and RS package. Simply awesome. I'd switch the colors for the convertible version (just like the concept model) and get rid of the ground affects option but stick with the RS package.

I'm thinking 1SS/RS, manual tranny, red jewel tintcoat, gray or silver rally stripes. Maybe if I can get the money I'll spring for the 2SS.
Edmunds, please break the embargo. Someone's gonna do it. Might as well be you this time.

I like the way big wheels look but I dont want anything larger than an 18 on a performance car. Keep it light.

With the Camaro being the Mustangs main target, will Ford SERIOUSLY revamp the Mustangs current drivetrain lineup like they should have done with the "new" model? If so what would you suggest?
-Id like to see the EcoBoost as the GT, however I know that wouldnt sit well with core GT enthusiasts as its not a V8. Thats not an option as the GT has to be a V8.
-The EcoBoost is too powerful (and too expensive) to be a base engine.
-Ford does have 3.5 and 3.7L V6s which could work and with a few tweaks, could match the Camaros base V6 in hp.
-The 4.6 needs a serious makeover as 315hp isnt cutting it at least on paper. Id like to see a 5.0L V8 w/380hp accompanied by a 6MT or a 6AT. Sure, it may drive up the price of admission a bit into GT land but given the upgraded performance and power it would still be a bargain and more of a match for the V8 Camaro.

I was checking out the (Canadian) site to see how cheap you could get a V8. Unfortunately the cheapest V8 starts over $36K and with freight and taxes I'd be looking at over $40K. Too much.
I then tried the base model. With freight and taxes it was around $30K. Much more interesting and it doesn't appear to need any options.
Looking forward to a test of the V6 model with the 6 speed manual.

Too bad most dealers won't stock a lot of the interesting colors. The Inferno Orange looks great, but you are going to find a lot of metallic gray and silver cars at the dealers.
I wonder how often you will actually see a car with the Orange stripes sitting on a lot?

It seems to me there are two types of car buyers: those who see the car as nothing more than an appliance and will simply go to the dealer and pick whatever is on the lot, and therefore don't even realize colors other than white, black, gray, and silver even exist; and those that are enthusiastic about the car and will have the dealer order it exactly to their configuration. I used to work in the inventory office of a Toyota dealership. If we were allocated a car painted in actual color, my job was to change it back to something boring like white, black, gray, or silver. Buyers who actually cared about a little excitement in the car (a real rarity, given the brand) would just special order a colorful car through us.
