Next-Generation QX56 Will Come From Japan on Unibody Chassis

Infiniti sources have told Inside Line that the next-generation QX56 will be built in Japan and will most likely switch to unibody construction.

The current suspension setup will be redesigned in favor of improved ride quality and handling instead of towing and hauling. Expect to see official information surface this fall.

There were those leaked photos of the Nissan Patrol, which is styled from the Nissan Terranaut.
I bet the QX will be a luxury Patrol. Nice looking car to me.

Unibodies are just as capable as body on frames (ie. Toureg 2), just higher repair bills. Hahaha.

I have never liked the looks of that thing - it just seems like over wretched excess of trying to turn an SUV into a luxury vehicle. It makes me think of the quote in a Cadillac advertisement in the late '90s before they got into SUVs. The announcer asked the question, "Do the words luxury and truck really go together?" Of course, they eventually joined the crowd too, with the Escalade, which was a badge engineered GMC Denali.

"which was a badge engineered GMC Denali."

Which was a badge engineered Tahoe.

I never cared for these large "luxury" suv's(Lexus LX570, Infiniti QX, Lincoln Navigator, Cadillac Escalade) as given the money I expect greater emphasis on less compromise. It should go much further than a few chassis tweaks, material upgrade, features, drivetrain tweaks and simple cosmetics. With the luxury version, one should not be able to tell what its based on as its CLEARLY evident with the vehicles I listed above.

One more Nissan that no one ever buys.

I thought the Japanese only love big luxury minivans.

Even though unofficial, this speclation is so welcome. I will be toasting tonight knowing that Nissan has come through again with the Patrol in the US which most likely will share a lot with the QX. Why did it take Nissan so long?
