New York City Building to Feature Sky Garages

skygarage.jpg

Since 3,000 square feet of living space isn't enough of a draw these days, the building under construction at 200 Eleventh Ave in New York City is offering Sky Garages as an added enticement.

As the video after the jump shows, the Sky Garage is nothing more than an apartment-level garage space accessed by a glorified freight elevator. Still, it sure beats an underground lot, provided you don't drive an F-350 dually.

That's hot.

Wonder how long it'll take for the elevator & garage to get some gnarly scrapes.

What happens at 7:30am when everyone wants to leave at the same time? How long do you have to wait?

One apartment per floor or a whole lot of elevators?

What happens if you have two cars?

Its NYC, you don't need 2 cars. However, if you have more than one you do what Seinfeld did and buy a building and convert it to a garage.

Please, it took them long enough. I hope no one thinks this is a great new idea because someone should have done this years ago, especially since they have those super parking garages.

I can see so many ways where an idiot would screw this up and injure themselves or damage property. Unfortunately our society sees that as a liability rather than Darwinism at its finest.

Very cool, provided one has or is willing to spend the money.

Redliner, I thought of the same thing - how many others would be sharing that elevator. I'd sure hate to have to wait more than a minute or two for an elevator just to get my car out.

Compared to a ten minute walk to a parking garage, followed by a ten minute wait for the valet to get your car, a few minutes to get your car doesn't sound so bad.

It's going to be hillarious to hear first reports of someone accidently shifting into drive and ruining someones dinner!! House full of emissions!

The couple didn't even kiss upon greeting each other in the apartment. It's a sham marriage.

What a colossal waste of energy!
