First Drive: 2009 Fiat 500 Abarth

So Fiat is going to save Chrysler? It could happen.

And if it does, we hope access to the Fiat 500 Abarth is one of the results.

Smaller than a Mini and lighter too, this performance version of the Fiat minicar uses a turbocharged, 135-horsepower four-cylinder to propel its front wheels. At less than 2,100 pounds, the 500 Abarth makes even a Miata look hefty and yet it still wears 17-inch wheels and tires.

What's it like to drive? See for yourself in our latest report from France.

Nice review. Sounds a little funky, but with a nice dollup of peformance and character. Would the Punto Abarth be more refined, with less compromises?

I'm a MINI fan, but I'd love to see more of these style small cars over in NA.
