Already on sale in Japan, the Nissan GT-R SpecV is the first of what promises to be a long line of upgraded GT-Rs. This particular version doesn't add any power, but it does shed some weight and upgrade some hardware.
So how fast is the GT-R now? Find out in our exclusive full test of the SpecV direct from Japan.

It's fast enough to eat traffic cones, and spit them back out in different colors!

Sounds like some crazy grip to go along with the crazy price. I'm torn.
How's the ride? I get the idea that this is even less of a street car than the Viper ACR.

I had always wondered how they would address naming the "Spec" version of the new GTR here in America as it might be a bit confusing if they have a V Spec GTR (as previous generations were named) alongside a Sentra SER Spec V. Enough with the names, send it to the Ring. That's what everyone is waiting for.

How did the press ever come up with the idea that 3800 lb is heavy? Don't you know most Audi/BMW/MB sports weigh even more than this?
How did people get in their heads that 3800 lb is heavy? I don't understand where that thought came from.
Here's the field:
Porsche Panamera - 4343 lb
Aston Martin Rapide - 4189 lb
Ferrari 612 - 4057 lb
Aston Martin DB9 - 3970 lb
Nissan GT-R - 3858 lb <============
Ferrari 575 - 3815 lb
Ferrari 599 - 3722 lb
Aston Martin DBS - 3737 lb
Porsche 911 Turbo - 3660 lb
Nissan GT-R Spec V - 3615 lb (1640 kg) <=======
Aston Martin DB8 - 3595 lb
So, I don't understand where the press came up with this idea that 3800 lb is heavy. The BMW/AMG/Audi RS/S weigh much more than this. The Germans make their cars 4000+ lbs you all know right?

Maserati GranTurismo S - 4145 lb
Audi S5 - 4067 lb

BMW M5 - 4012 lb
Audi S4 - 3990 lb

The GT-R is a super light 4 seat super car.
Completely demolishes everybody else's 4-seater.

Argument partial fail.
Nissan GT-R SpecV is in fact 3704 lb (1680 kg).

Still beating the 4 seat competition.

The GT-R SpecV is a 2 seater.
What was I thinking?

Lambo note:
The Lambos more likely weigh:
3500 lb
and
3350 lb respectively.
Lamborghini's the only company that lists dry weights (unstartable car with no fluids of any kind in it) instead of curb weight (engine, transmission, wiper, radiator fluid included). Curb weight is the standard number used by all... except Lamborghini.
That's why the Lambo weights are ridiculously low.

Will the new Bridgestone rubber on the SpecV be available as an aftermarket part in the USA?

Awesome performance that you HAVE to pay for. Ill take the much simpler Corvette ZR1 which is cheaper, should have lower maintenence costs and is just as capable while offering faster acceleration after 60MPH.
