My vote goes to the Camaro.

I have to go with the Camaro. The Challenger's Hemi sounds nice, but I like the meanness of the Camaro's LS3. I think the Mustang needs a better clip to capture the sound better.

can't decide between the mustang and the camaro. Prolly the mustang.

Camaro by car. The Challenger wasn't too bad. Other than the extremely posed blue Mustang at the end, the drag strip Mustang sounded kinda lame. Exactly what I'd expect from the secretary and sorority's choice of Pony car. In all fairness that's what has lasted all 45 years without pause, though.

MUSTANG! I really don't like the Hemi or the LS3's sound out of the stock exhaust.

For me it's a tossup between the Camaro and the Challenger. Mustang comes in a distant 3rd.

Challenger.
Sounds like a chainsaw. Gettin ready to chop down a big tree.

I prefer the Mustang's low, mellow tone.
Camaro's racous note is a whisker behind in second but really a toss up.
the Challenger's is too tinny and almost sounds like some rattling going on.

If I wanted to rev a lot and intimidate, definitely the Camaro wins.

i retract my challenger vote. that chainsaw sound gets old after a minute.
I revote for the Mustang. It makes a smooth chorus.

Not a bad one in the bunch. I'll take a SRT 8 Challenger with a Paxton supercharger or a Hurst stage 4 or 5. 540 or so hp? Sounds good to me.

The Mustang has the best quality of sound to my ears (though they all sound good) but it's too quiet.

Wow, the Camaro sounds really good. I was surprised how well they gave the Vette engine the feel of an old-school small block.

Mopar For the win. The Camaro comes in a very very close second. The Challenger has that bass in it's voice that just did it for me.

Wow, thats a tough one.
The Camaro sounds the best of the bunch. The Challenger was my pick before hearing the clips, however the ball bearing sound when coming off throttle is hitting a nerve with me. To complicate things even more, I had very high hopes for the Mustang but I don't think the video does it justice.

Tough call, they all sound great, and I'm a Mustang guy. But I think that I have to give it to the Camaro.

Re-shoot the Mustang one...please. I don't think the angle was right or equal to the others. Either way the 'Stang gets my vote, and has for 20+ years. The other two have a bit of a broken glasspack "quality" to them...maybe it's my speakers...

Ive always prefered the 4.6 Mustang GTs exhaust note over any LS series GM car. The Fords note comes off just as mean but in a more refined polished way.
I remember hearing a naturally aspirated 32v Mustang Cobra 4.6 a few years ago on the interstate at full song. AWESOME!

Challenger has the full track. The camaro sounds closer to stock car than muscle. Mustang sounds like my boat, (in a good way) but too quiet. My vote goes to the Challenger.

The Mustang does sound the best, just not here. The underdog engine of the group sounds the most 'right' to me. Why did you guys actually film the exhaust notes of the Camaro and Challenger and then throw in a few random clips of the Mustang from further away?
The Camaro also sounds good, but not enough of a bass note to the exhaust.
The Challenger is unique, but I agree that it is too tinny. It sounds the most angry, though.
Mustang - 9.5/10
Camaro - 9/10
Challenger - 9/10

I vote for the Smart Car.
Oh, wait. The Camaro wins for me. The Mustang just doesn't sound like it has any nads.

Tough call. I love the way the Camaro sounds right at start up. GM starters always did have a great sound to them when cranking a V8. I like the motor's sound, but it is a bit too high pitched.
I think the Mustang sounds the best overall, with a nice deep rumble.

Mustang just barely beats the Camaro. The Challenger sounds terrible.
altimadude00 says:

OK, I changed my mind. I can't decide. I'd have to hear them WOT as they pass by. Blipping the throttle at a standstill isn't enough.
However, just revving the engine like this, the Challenger looses.
estreka says:

I didn't like the Camaro at all. It sounded like there's something rattling around in the mufflers.
The Challenger sounds the best from the factory.
The Mustang sounded good, but few things sound better than a Mustang with Borla exhaust. Oh man.

estreka, I about creamed my pants with that clip.
From the clips Edmunds posted, I'd have to go with the Camaro though. Mustang 2nd. Dodge 3rd. Although I'll echo the sentiment that better clips of the Mustang should have been recorded, but I understand that the testing was done prior to even thinking about comparing exhausts.

The Camaro, tho it appears (from all the reviews) that the Mustang's exhaust sounds better when driving (being inside) the car.

all sound better than the M3. Its hard to say which is best. The Mustang would be my pick if there had to be one.

Can't beat the sound of the Mustang on the road. Just bought one this week, after test driving all three cars. Can't really go wrong with any of them though.
