You probably already have WiFi in your house and at work, so why not complete the circle and get your car "connected", too? That's what Cadillac plans to offer on its CTS sedan starting in April.
The system is a $500 option and requires a $29-per-month subscription to maintain. It effectively turns the CTS into a wireless hotspot that delivers speeds up to 800Kbps according to Autonet Mobile which is supplying the system.

I wonder what kind of effective radius this will have? I assume you'll be able to restrict access so not just every loser who isn't driving a so-equipped CTS can take advantage. I mean -- it's really only useful if you are driving a business passenger -- or maybe a couple of kids with laptops?

I assume it's going to be like any other wifi router. Password protection at the very least.

Sign me up! Just imagine going to places, like the park or the beach, and always having your own personal wi-fi hot-spot.

For a Real Estate agent this must be a dream. Not what I'd need in my car (too busy driving) but I can imagine this is very good to a certain group of consumers.
Off topic-- that interior picture is amazing. Makes me want to graduate and get a job to allow me a CTS-V ten thousand times more than ever.
