Long rumored and somewhat grudgingly anticipated, the 2010 BMW X6 M will finally make its world debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show in April.
No BMW SUV has ever officially carried a Motorsport badge and many of the engineers within the company thought that was a good thing. "The Motorsport badge is reserved for our sportiest vehicles, and that doesn't include SUVs," they would say.
Apparently those guys got fired because BMW officially announced the imminent debut of the high-performance X6. Other than noting that the X6 M "will utilize several new engine, drivetrain, and suspension technologies," BMW didn't disclose any details. Look for more info April 4.

M is now no better than AMG.

Now all they need to do is make an M7 to compete with the S65 AMG.

This is the problem with having Russia and Dubai fuelling demand, no lightweight hardcore version of the m3, no z4 m. Instead, M division is producing a x5 m, x6 m and sure to be announced 7 series M.

4dsc85,
Technically there is an M7; it just happens to be called a B7 and happens to be made by Alpina. Doesn't actually bear the propellor emblem, but most BMW enthusiasts accept it as the M7. (with a 500 hp supercharged v8 wouldn't you?)

alpina is a different animal then the M division... very different... alpina tends to borrow more from the stock BMW engines as opposed to M division which builds there own high revving monsters... i do not consider the B7 alpina to be anyway near a M7 nor will i ever... alpina does more of the luxury refined look rather then the sporty outgoing look...

Im on the fence here as its good to expand the ///Motorsport division however I hope BMW doesnt end up like Mercedes and offer an ///M version for just about every model they offer. It dilutes the badge while also making it less exclusive. Ill assume Audi wont be far behind with S/RS versions of the Q5/7.

AEV Jeeps. They put in a 6.1L Hemi into the Wranglers if you so desire.
Do you need it? Not even.
Would it be fun to pull up to an EVO and rev the engine? Hell yeah!

I don't see how this will ever come to fruition. Why buy this over a Cayenne Turbo/Turbo S? It will most likely have less hp and tq regardless of what engine they use (V10, Turbo8, or TT8). And dont look now, but an X6 5.0 already weighs more than a Turbo S...
