ZR1 Modified By Hennessey Runs A Ten-Second Quarter Mile

A 10.9-second quarter-mile at 132.2 mph, to be exact.

Hennessey calls his breathed-on 2009 Corvette ZR1 a ZR700, and did the deed on stock Michelin street tires.

The ZR700 wears a host of bolt-ons and a reflash to swell output to 705-hp and 717 lb-ft, which apparently is enough extra sauce to beat the stock ZR1 we recently tested by 0.6-second and 3.9 mph.

As an aside, how badass are the ZR700's blacked-out wheels? A night and day improvement over the gaudy chrome on the stock ones, we say. Click the thumbnails below for a full-size version:

A 10 second quarter? no

Sub-11? yes

Reading the title, I was thinking 10 seconds - amazing! only to be misled by the media again....

Is Hennessey going to loan one to IL for comparison with the GT-R?

Even though the upgrades are mostly bolt ons and electronics, Id go a bit further than "breathed upon". An insane car has been made even more insane! I wanna' ride!

I'm liking not only the wheels, but the primer black paint job... pulls off what every backyard kid with a spray can was trying to do with his beretta.

I suspect the times would be even better if they got a guy that launched the car worth a darn!

Thos are NOT the stock wheels. They look like the new HRE monoblocks.

m6vx, in the vernacular of drag racing, anything that is 10.999999999 seconds or less is a "ten second" pass.

This lingo has been the practice for, well, as long as there has been drag racing.

"I suspect the times would be even better if they got a guy that launched the car worth a darn!"

You can't expect the same launch technique with street tires and 700hp as you would with drag radials and 700hp. You have to pick: bog or spin, he choose to bog and then get on it ASAP.
