The surprise announcement that the Chevrolet Orlando concept would go into production in 2011 didn't get much attention at the Detroit Auto Show. Maybe these spy photos of the Chevrolet Cruze-based crossover will help out the cause.
Judging by this prototype, the 2012 Chevrolet Orlando will come to market with very few changes. Slightly larger side mirrors and a taller overall greenhouse are the most obvious differences. There was a turbo diesel four-cylinder engine under the hood of the concept, but we're expecting to see GM's Ecotec gas engines powering the U.S.-bound models.

The wife and I are in the market NOW for a new "mini" minivan. The only offerings are the Mazda 5 and Kia Rondo. A shame that the US manufacturers couldn't have something similar to shop for. By 2012, we could need a new car, but we may also not shop this class either. Sorry GM, Ford and Chrysler, but the foreign manufacturers will get my money now.

Actually, those are 2 good offerings. What about a Dodge Journey? It may be a little larger than the Mazda and Kia, but couldn't hurt to look. I think it's got a nice stylish exterior, the interior isn't the best, but I think it's a good overall auto.

Im so sick of crossovers (large or small) from any brand as they've become a dime a dozen. Somone please offer something new, fresh and that people WANT to buy not HAVE to buy.
