The 2010 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS will have a new safety feature called Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Warning with Brake Support. That's a long-winded way of saying that the feature will sound a warning and prepare the brakes if cruise is on and it senses that you're about to crash.
Maybe the Ford folks on the project were building up their collective lung capacity to blow up the balloon targets that are being used to demonstrate the technology at the company's Dearborn test track.
The car-shaped balloons are substitutes for real vehicles in the testing. Although at $10,000 a pop, they may be more expensive than a used Ford Five Hundred.

Holy crappers a 3 year old car for $9000???
But the balloons don't damage the expensive million dollar prototype test vehicle and the expensive hundreds of thousands of dollars brainy engineers driving it.

"Holy crappers a 3 year old car for $9000???"
Well it does have almost 100,000 miles on it. A bit high for 3 years.

Blue Book values on balloons have been deflating for years.

How is a balloon $10,000? Am I missing something here?

Air is expensive. Soon the government is going to tax you by the breath.

Looks like the car hit the balloon. I hope the production system works better than that.
"Air is expensive. Soon the government is going to tax you by the breath." Reminds me of a certain Arnold movie.
