2009 Chicago Auto Show: Ford Gives Away Five 2010 Transit Connects

#CAS09 After last year's initial reveal of the Transit Connect commercial van, Ford started a little contest. It asked business owners to come up with the most innovative use of the surprisingly spacious little cargo mover. The five winners would each receive a free vehicle, no strings attached.

Well, Ford picked the winners and brought them to the Chicago auto show to hand them the keys. But that wasn't all. In a shocking twist of marketing madness, Ford went one step further and outfitted each of the five vans with the new owner's business logo and preferred configuration. The winners were pleased, almost jubilant. The fact that their new vans looked no less odd than before didn't seem to bother them a bit.

The 2010 Ford Transit Connect goes on sale this summer with a starting price of $21,475. -- Ed Hellwig, Lead Senior Editor, Inside Line
